CENAME is entrusted with a public service mission that contributes to the implementation of the national pharmaceutical policy in terms of supply of essential medicines and medical devices.

How it is organized

Placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Public Health and the financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance, the National Procurement Centre for Essential Drugs and Medical Devices (CENAME) is a public establishment of a technical nature with legal personality and financial autonomy. It is administered by 2 statutory bodies :

  • A Board of Directors;
  • A General Management.

Financial resources

CENAME's resources are essentially made up of

  • the proceeds from the sale of essential medicines and medical devices;
  • resources allocated by development partners;
  • subsidies and contributions from the State;
  • the proceeds from its services;
  • income from the sale of goods and equipment that have been reformed;
  • State contributions.

Positioning of CENAME in the National Essential Drug Supply System
